JACKSONVILLE - The feeling was all good all week.

Head Coach Doug Pederson liked the Jaguars' energy this week. And the preparation. And the focus. And how the team practiced ahead of a Week 3 game on the West Coast.

Now, it's time to travel and play.

"They're bought in," Pederson said as the Jaguars (1-1) prepared to play the Los Angeles Chargers (1-1) at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., Sunday at 4:05 p.m.

"We've kind of got past that with this team. That's what you have to have. Obviously, we're still early in the year but guys are doing things extremely well. They're taking from the classroom to the practice field and executing it on the field."

The Jaguars, the third-youngest team in the NFL, lost at Washington in Week 1 before shutting out the Indianapolis Colts at home in Week 2. Pederson, who took over as the Jaguars' head coach in early February, said he wasn't surprised how quickly a team that underwent significant offseason change has adapted to a new situation.

"You need to kind of grow up quickly in this league," he said. "Games happen. Here we are getting ready to leave [for Los Angeles Saturday] and we're right back into a game. These guys don't have time to be young and they're growing up right in front of us."

The Jaguars enter Sunday in sole possession of first place in the AFC South for the first time since Week 2 of the 2018 season, and Sunday marks a chance for the Jaguars to play a team favored by many to win the AFC West and contend for the Super Bowl.

Pederson said the week's practice is no clear indication of how a team will fare Sunday.

"This game's funny," Pederson said. "Obviously at practice, you wish things were perfect, crisp and sharp and no mistakes were made, but I'd rather mistakes were made in practice so we can correct them. We've seen that and obviously, we saw from Week 1 to Week 2 the corrections made.

"But then there are times you go through a week and you think you've had the best week ever and you go out and you don't play so well. It has gone both ways that way.

"You just stay in the moment, stay present and focus on one day at a time."

NOTABLE

Pederson on Friday discussed quarterback Trevor Lawrence's challenge Sunday facing a Chargers pass rush that features Pro Bowl pass rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, and said the reality is Lawrence may face pressure at times Sunday. "He'll have to play the whole game that way, honestly," Pederson said, adding that the Chargers also are effective at mixing fronts to add pressure. "It's a good front, good edge pressure. They can pressure with their backers inside and really put guys right in the lap of your quarterback. We have to be smart about it and understand it. Our offensive line is ready to go. It's going to be fun to watch them play."

NOTABLE

The Jaguars on Friday added cornerback Shaq Griffin to the injury report with a hip issue. He is listed as questionable. They had had no players on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday after having no players on the report throughout the week last week leading to the victory over the Colts.
